Privacy policy

We collect what we need to run your account and the tools you use, we keep your trading data private to you, and we do not sell your data. Your account credentials are stored encrypted and used only to read your trades. This page explains the detail.

• Account details: your email, name, time zone and a hashed password, or the identifier Google gives us if you sign in with Google.
• What you put into TradeZournal: strategies, backtests, replay sessions and their screenshots, forward tests, journal trades, notes, tags, goals and your screened stocks.
• Account and broker connections: for a MetaTrader account, its login number, server and balance, and the trades we read from it (the read-only investor password you enter is passed to our connection provider once and is not stored by us); for a stock broker such as Dhan, Fyers or Angel One (for Angel One the client code, PIN and TOTP secret), the credentials you enter, stored encrypted, and the holdings, balances and trades we read through them.
• Usage and technical data: which features you use and how many AI requests you make, timestamps, your IP address (to limit abuse) and error reports.
• Messages: what you send through the contact form or by email.

• To provide the product: run your backtests, keep your journal, watch your accounts and prop-firm limits, and show your portfolio.
• To enforce plan allowances and keep the service reliable and secure.
• To send notices you need (your digest and account or limit alerts, which you can switch off) and to answer your messages.
• To improve TradeZournal, using counts and error reports rather than the content of your trades.

When you use Edgar, a trade explanation, the AI Coach or the screener chat, the text you write and the data needed to answer it (such as candles, your strategy rules, or the trades in the dates you chose) are sent to an AI provider to produce the reply. A chart screenshot may be included when you ask about a trade.

We send only what the request needs, we do not use your content to train models ourselves, and the provider handles it under its own terms. AI replies can be wrong and are information, not advice.

Credentials are checked with the broker when you connect, then stored encrypted. They are decrypted only on our servers, only to read your account, and are never shown again or sent back to your browser. Disconnecting an account removes its stored credentials and, for a MetaTrader account, deletes it at our connection provider. We never see a password you type into your broker's own site.

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the services that run TradeZournal, and only what they need:

• Hosting and infrastructure providers that store and serve the app.
• AI providers, for the AI features described above.
• Market data sources, which receive symbols and time ranges, not your identity.
• Email delivery providers, to send you messages.
• Your broker or connection provider, when you tell us to read your account.
• Authorities, where the law requires it.

We use a secure session cookie to keep you signed in and your browser's local storage for conveniences such as chart settings, drawings and a remembered layout. We do not use advertising cookies.

We keep your data while your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your account and the content in it. Some records, such as limited security logs, may be kept briefly afterwards, and anything the law requires us to keep is kept for as long as it requires.

You can see and edit your data in the app, switch off emails in your profile, disconnect accounts at any time and export your trades from the journal. You can also ask us to correct, give you a copy of, or delete your data.

We protect your data with encryption of stored credentials, hashed passwords, secure cookies, rate limiting and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; read how we protect your account and what you can do too.

TradeZournal is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app or by email.
